Writing

Why do some people like to write all formal on their blogs? It's especially annoying to read when they are trying to improve their English or something by using big words they don't know the meanings of. I guess they can argue that a blog's the perfect place to practice their writing but to me it's just a place to be casual. Why not join some kind of discussion board?
